Group Classes
SDK offers multiple levels of obedience classes and various other courses and seminars.
Group Classes are designed to be consistent and flow right into the next level so you are able to take your training as far as you'd like to. Classes meet at the same time and day each week for 55 minutes for 6 weeks and you will have homework to do in between sessions. We offer classes at BOTH facilities. The last night includes testing and graduation with a wearable medal to keep!
Puppy Essentials
Our Puppy Essentials class focuses on building a strong foundation in obedience and everyday manners. Puppies will learn key skills such as sit, down, stay, come "here", lose leash walking, leave it, and place. We also cover early problem-solving, polite behavior, and structured socialization to help your puppy grow into a confident, well-mannered dog.
This class is designed specifically for puppies under 6 months of age and includes confidence-building activities and positive exposure to new experiences.
Advanced Puppy
Ready to take your puppy’s training to the next level? Our Advanced Puppy Class is designed to build on the foundation from our Puppy Essentials class by adding distance, distraction, and duration to your core obedience skills. We also introduce a more refined heel, and progress “leave it” and “drop it” commands for real-world reliability.
Pre-Requisite: Completion of Puppy Essentials or instructor approval.
Beginner Essentials Class
This class is perfect for adolescent and adult dogs who are new to training or need a refresher on the basics. (Over the age of 6 months old.) We focus on foundational obedience skills including sit, down, come "here", heel, place, and leave it. You'll also work on distance, distraction, and duration, along with essential manners to help your dog succeed at home and in public.
Key Fundamentals
This class is designed to strengthen reliability and build greater consistency in your dog’s performance. We focus on fading off the use of food lures while reinforcing timely and dependable responses. Training includes increased distance, distraction, and duration, along with the introduction of two new exercises: “wait” and remote sits.
Pre-Requisite: Completion of Beginner Essentials or Advanced Puppy, or instructor approval.
Ultimate Companion
This class is an advanced-level manners and obedience course. Learn to work without treats and training collars and add to 'stay' and 'heel' commands. In this program, dogs will master the skills required for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification while continuing to strengthen their obedience foundations.
Please note: Completion of our Key Fundamentals class is required before enrolling in Ultimate Companion. Successful completion of this course provides the opportunity to earn your official AKC CGC certification.
Canine Good Citizen Urban (CGCU)
Our CGCU course focuses on practicing obedience and manners in public settings — preparing you and your dog to confidently navigate busy environments together. This course is designed to help teams earn the AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen (CGCU) title, which tests advanced obedience skills in real-life situations such as city sidewalks, parks, store entrances, and more.
